Day 63B - Whitehorse, YT August 31, 2011

We were still in the holding pattern waiting for the now mobile Cockerell's.  We did a little provisioning at the local Wal-Mart and the Great Canadian Superstore.  Whitehorse isn't a big town but considering the rest of the Yukon, it's all they have.

We went out to Miles Canyon, named after the famous soccer star, Miles Hyde.

The contrast in colors was striking.

Particularly the clarity and color of the water.

It has a footbridge to cross over to access kilometers of trails.

Pam thought the bridge was a little shaky.

We continued exploring and saw this cozy cabin by the river.

Gathered some wood for a campfire.

Drove past the Yukon River Hydrodam, their main source of power.

Found this innovative use for bicycle wheels.

Then we saw this bird sitting in the river. " Hey, did you get lost?  Follow us back to the US!"

Back into our motorhome watching a little TV and what to our wondering eyes do we see?   Pulling in directly across from us - THE Cockerell's!!   Can you hear the strains of old Buck Owens singing - "Together Again"?
They did almost 600 miles of pretty rough road and were tired but we sure were happy to see them.  Their coach is running good.   Now the journey can continue.
